Bolivia Travel Guide
When in Sucre cheesy as the 'dino mobile' looks a trip to the dinosaur footprints will exceed your expectations. The cost of a visit is cheap and the prints are extensive - it's just such a shame & quite unbelievable that such a treasure is still part of a working quarry. The prints scale a sheer rock face which shakes with dynamite explosions from the base even as you watch.Demographics: Bolivia has an estimated population of approximately 9 million people. A majority of this population is Amerindians and the rest include Europeans, Whites and people belonging to other ethnic origins. Europeans in the country include Spanish, Italians, Croatians, Germans, Russians and Polish. Bolivia, like most Latin American countries had an export led economy and so it developed infrastructure to stimulate export use. The construction of the railway system, linking city with the Pacific and Atlantic coast cemented the cities position as a regional trade hub, bringing further prosperity to the City of La Paz. This is still the case today with the nation holding high levels of oil and mineral reserves. One of the country's biggest export is tin.Strikes and road blockades are a constant risk in Bolivia and are likely to disrupt transportation at the local and regional levels. A traveler should never attempt to cross a blockade. In addition to affecting transportation, blockades and strikes may limit access to important services and desirable amenities.Nothing is so much better than going to Bolivia when there is a festival going on. One of the famous festivals in Bolivia is the Festival of the Gran Poder, which is a religious festival, and where you will also get to enjoy a street party in La Paz. You can also visit Bolivia during the Alasitas Fair, an event so colorful and so full of people filling in the streets to buy miniature of things that they want.
At the last minute my friend Marisol, who runs a massage center, got her English classes canceled and agreed to watch the baby. My other friend Selva had two tickets to Bolivia and was using her second with her boy friend who at the last minute couldn't go... so there I was, with all logic saying I should be working for money for my baby getting on a bus with less than $80 on my way to Bolivia. I might add for an American the Visa to enter Bolivia is $155 so my net value was like 1/2th the cost of the visa. The most common sight for all aged people is bathing in the river water. From early in the morning people begin to gather for bathing along with their family members. During summer days people sit in the water hour after hour. They bring fast food and their lunch with them. It seems as if many groups are busy in arranging picnics. While I am passing one group, the participants invite me to join them in lunch.
